Candle care
Burn it well.
To enjoy a long, clean burn and the cozy crackle of your wooden-wick candle, follow these simple steps. They’re the same tips on the card that comes home with every candle.
First burn matters
Let the wax melt all the way to the edges during the first burn, about 1–2 hours. Let the wick be a little longer on this first burn as the wax settles.
Before you light
Trim your wick to about ¼ inch before each burn, and remove any loose trimmings from the wax. The easiest way: wait for the wick to be cold, then use a tissue to break off the burnt part and throw it away. Place your candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, vents or fans.
While burning
Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time. If the flame gets too large or flickers a lot, put it out, trim the wick and relight. Never leave a burning candle unattended or within reach of children or pets.
After you burn
Let the wax cool and harden before moving the candle or trimming the wick again. Stop when about ½ inch of wax remains in the bottom of the vessel.
